The 2 Ten Story
We get asked all the time what the meaning behind our name is. "What does '2 Ten' mean?"
Well, here's the answer!
In 2010, my husband and I were expecting our first baby and moving back to Aledo from nearby. We had hoped and prayed for a healthy, "normal" pregnancy and thought we might only have the one child and give it all the love we could. But God had other plans for our family...He gave us TWO miracles...TWINS!
One boy and one girl. The perfect way to complete our family. All 3, including myself, were super healthy for 6 1/2 months. Things were looking great!
Suddenly, after my 76 mile drive one way from work from my old job, something was wrong. Terribly wrong. The twins, aka B&B, decided it was time to make a SUPER early entry into the world. Born at 25 weeks, weighing 2.2 lbs each, these littles had to fight for every single breath, every heartbeat, and we didn't know what each day held. For nearly 3 months, the twins spent their time in the NICU while we had to go back to work and try to live as normal as possible knowing we were leaving our babies in the hands of the medical staff. We spent every waking moment we could at the hospital by their sides. We weren't sure if we were ever going to be able to take our babies home or if they were going to make it to see another day. We held them for hours skin to skin just to be sure they knew we were there and to help regulate their breathing, heart rate and to ensure they had the most love.
They of course eventually did grow strong and came home and continued to fight and thrive. That first year was the toughest year of our families' lives but we all made it through and learned a lot.
The '2 Ten' is for the miracles God gave us...2 miracles in 2010. But more importantly it represents resilience, strength, love and
growth. These are values we try to instill in our business. The twins still remind us of just how brave and courageous they were,
even as tiny babies. If these tiny miracles can get through all of that, we can get through anything.
No matter what life throws at us, we can work through it and come out on the other side stronger than before and more grateful.
We want to help change the industry standard and raise the bar for our stylists and our clients in honor of these miracle babies.
